So, here I am, making an open confession on the blog: I am in love with Angelina Jolie. I would ask you not to tell Terri since she won't even let me watch movies with Angelina any more, but my guess is she'll read this post herself.
Why, you might be asking, would I openly declare such love here? Because today is World Refugee Day, and Angelina Jolie's role in advocating on behalf of the oppressed and marginalized is the reason I love her. Don't be cynical or fooled, she has put not just her money or her reputation into this passionate cause, she has given herself - going to the people on whose behalf she is advocating as a goodwill ambassador and of course adopting two children, giving them a home.
Rather than detail what she has done, I'll point you to Anderson Cooper's blog which will eventually link up to his interview with her. I think it will be worth catching.
So on this day on which we are reminded of the plight and suffering of so many souls around the world, I appreciate those who are doing the reminding. Angelina Jolie doesn't have to give herself to this cause. None of us do. I have no idea of her spiritual beliefs and there are aspects of her life and past I find a bit odd if not disturbing -- but I do know she is caring for the orphan, the widow and the stranger, and I think Jesus had a thing or two to say about that.
Oh, and as for Terri finding out about this declared love, I think it's okay, she loves her too.
its true, I also love her
